Job Summary:

Our Valdosta Plant is looking for a hardworking, safety-minded, Process Operator to join its Production Team! Reporting to a Process Supervisor, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the sodium chlorate process. As part of the operations team, you are responsible for working effectively with other 12 hour shift members in order to ensure safe plant operation and maximum equipment performance, while minimizing downtime and production loss. These positions are full time, 12-hour rotating shifts. All operators are expected to work overtime when required.

 

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operates the following process systems and equipment including but not limited to:
  • For all equipment and processes operated, takes corrective action when necessary to maintain operation within acceptable operating limits, as described in the operations procedures and the process controls manual.
  • Regulates, observes, and records voltages, flows, temperatures, levels, pressures, etc. pertaining to operations.
  • Prepares equipment for inspection or repairs by isolating, draining, degassing, and testing equipment for chemicals or flammable gasses and preparing work permits and lockouts before releasing for maintenance.
  • Operates mobile equipment including fork truck and railcar mover
  • Directs the unloading salt trucks and monitors salt handling equipment
  • Performs various start-up and shutdown assignments.
  • Makes minor repairs to auxiliary equipment, such as: changing fittings, hoses, repairing leaks, tightening packings, etc.
  • Maintains plant housekeeping and safety standards
  • Participates in inspection and observation programs as indicated by management, site safety committee, and regulations.

Key Attributes:

  • Education: High School degree or above
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing in industries such as chemical, pulp and paper, and food processing
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Someone who is safety-oriented
  • Basic computer skills
  • Teamwork and interpersonal skills to work in a self-directed work group
  • Work experience to show the ability to be a reliable team member
  • Ability to work outdoors, stand for shift, lift & climb stairs
  • Must pass pre-hire physical & drug screen

 

The starting hourly rate is $22.39, once training is complete the hourly rate will be increased to an Operator 2 rate at $24.75. This position is overtime eligible.
