Journeyman Instrument Mechanic (10 Month Contract)

Job Summary:

At ERCO we are part of a leading manufacturer of environmentally friendly bleaching chemicals. We are looking for an Instrument Mechanic to join our maintenance team at ERCO North Vancouver on a temporary full-time basis! The position is responsible for maintaining and repairing DCS, PLC, and HMI systems, performing loop checks, instrument calibrations, as well as replacing and/or rebuilding a variety of instrumentation equipment. 

The successful candidate will report to the Maintenance Supervisor.  Shift schedule is 4 days on, 3 days off – regular 37.33 hours/week with overtime as needed. This is a unionized position with an hourly rate of $55.54.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Day-to-Day Duties

  • Safely perform Preventative Maintenance work while working with production schedules.
  • Diagnose and repair instrumentation equipment breakdowns and problems efficiently to minimize production interruptions.
  • Respond to emergency call outs and situations with a focus on safety and efficiency.
  • Perform day-to-day health checks of the Control and alarm systems.
  • Ensures PM tasks are executed on schedule while minimizing plant downtime due to failure.

Technical Duties

  • Create, Support and Troubleshoot automation/controls (DCS/PLC) within the plant.
  • Work with purchasing, corporate engineering and vendors to specify and source automation equipment and materials within the plant.

 

Qualifications/Experience

  • Journeyman Instrument Trades Qualification (Red Seal).
  • Minimum 3 years of process plant experience.
  • Previous experience troubleshooting and programming DCS, PLC and HMI systems.
  • Must possess strong communication and time-management skills.
  • Must possess strong commitment to safety and environmental protection.
  • Preference will be given to the following:
    • Candidates who have experience with Foxboro DCS.
    • Candidates who possess multiple trades qualifications.
    • Candidates who show acumen and desire to learn both Instrument and electrical aspects of maintenance
