How this role contributes to the Y’s mission:
As a Study Hall Teacher for school partnerships, you will providing tutoring, homework help and assistance in completing financial aid and program forms for youth enrolled in grant-funded programs. You will plan weekly lessons and study hall sessions in your designated subject area. As a Study Hall Teacher, you’ll contribute to the Y and to our overall community by supporting and nurturing youth and providing peace of mind to their parents and guardians by knowing their students are being supported academically.
This work is right for you if you have:
- An interest in the well-being of school age youth, enthusiasm, patience, good humor, good judgment and a good spirit
- The ability to clearly communicate and effectively listen to children, parents/guardians, members, school administration and other Y associates
- Prior experience leading a classroom and creating and implementing lesson plans for school age children
- A bachelor’s degree
- A current teacher certification (preferred)
