The Senior Financial Analyst will provide support to Cosmetica's sales team. They will act as a partner with Sales, providing advice on the pricing strategy and quotes for new products. They will be involved in daily project vetting huddles, providing direction and targets for the internal technical team based on scenario simulations, with the goal of maximizing profitability.

 

This role will also be responsible for maintaining the monthly sales forecast and training and supporting key partners in the sales team on the tool. This role will support the business through KPIs, profitability reporting, and business case analysis and recommendations (pricing, ad hoc projects). 

 

The Senior Financial Analyst will interact with different departments and present to multiple management levels, including the CFO, VP, Sales, Marketing & Product Development, and Business Development.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Prepare formal and informal quotes to provide to the sales team and customers by assessing the manufacturing process involved in our custom cosmetics products.
  • Support the business teams in tender/RFP modelling and response.
  • Support and analyze product and customer profitability, which includes a thorough understanding of cost elements and margins, inventory analysis, and the new product financial review process.
  • Identify and drive process improvements, including creating standard and ad-hoc reports, tools, and Excel/Power Bl dashboards.
  • Prepare an analysis of sales and direct contribution margin with product mix reports, category/sub-category performance, and other reports needed to support sales growth.
  • Build strong working relationships with sales managers, the product development team, the TRG/engineering team, and the finance team.
  • Support and provide financial advice. Promote a value-creation mindset to drive sales growth effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Prepare and analyze the rolling sales forecast and pipeline monthly and train and support new Sales Team members to maintain the sales plan.
  • Assist with developing an annual budget as required; may include long-range plan.
  • Support the business teams in business case preparation and ad hoc analysis as required.
  • Working with the finance team and business teams to complete month-end management reporting packages featuring key performance metrics and financial statement reporting with variance explanations.
  • Prepare presentations in a clear and concise manner when communicating with senior management.

 

Skills, Experience and Education Required:

  • Postsecondary education in Finance, Accounting, Business or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience with pricing and commercial finance analysis for products or projects within a manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience working with Contract Manufacturing or the consumer Goods goods industry is preferred
  • Ability to exercise tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information
  • Ability to analyze financial or accounting data and prepare reports, statements and projections
  • Work experience demonstrating understanding of costs incurred in business operations
  • Advanced financial modelling experience
  • Self-starter who works well in a team environment
  • Confident and effective communication (written & verbal)
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and contribute to the overall team engagement
  • Demonstrate a level of initiative and judgment to organize and prioritize tasks, workloadsand projects
  • Strong analytical skills demonstrate the ability to assess the impact of product and customer mix on margins and effectively communicate the cause of variances
  • Draws on a number of known options to solve problems and develop improvements
  • Proven Time Management skills: ability to plan, set and assign work priorities to meet and/or exceed performance goals
  • Team Player and demonstrates tact, diplomacy and discretion in dealing with colleagues and customers
  • Communicate with clarity, attention to detail and accuracy

Nice to Have(s):

  • Advanced MS Excel skills, including pivots, formulas, and queries.
  • Knowledge of Power Bl dashboards
