Machine Mechanic (Injection Molding), 2nd Shift

This is a 2nd Shift role, the work schedule is: Monday-Friday, 2pm-10pm PST

 

SUMMARY

Under general supervision, performs repairs, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of all Injection Molding Machinery and all Auxiliary equipment, for example, robots, dryers, thermolators, fixtures and support equipment such as compressors, chillers and towers. The effectiveness of this position is measured by downtime, quality of equipment maintenance and flexibility to satisfy internal customer requirements.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs preventive and planned maintenance on all production equipment and auxiliary machinery to ensure the integrity of all production equipment.
  • Performs equipment inspections and reports improper, unsafe operations to proper supervision.
  • Responds to all machine failures; diagnoses, troubleshoots and repairs of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or mechanical failures and malfunctions.
  • Assists in the teardown and rebuild of Injection Molding Machines and Auxiliary Equipment.
  • Evaluates needs and generates requisitions for spare parts to ensure minimal machine downtime. Notifies supervisor when parts need to be ordered.
  • Communicates with production teams and coordinates priorities to ensure proper maintenance service is provided.
  • Keeps an accurate record of time and work performed and turns in reports for proper data collection.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment, attends required training to increase knowledge.
  • Ensures compliance with all Safety and Quality Procedures and keeps Productivity Standards.
  • Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement.
  • Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job description.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENT                                    

  • Minimum of 1-2 years experience in industrial maintenance and mechanical knowledge.
  • Certificates from a technical training school, preferred.
  • Basic experience in electricity, hydraulic and pneumatic principles.
  • Ability to interpret schematics and diagrams.
  • Strong proficiency in the use of power and hand tools and precision instruments. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot & remedy problems with manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to read ladder logic and PLC ladder diagrams is a plus.
  • Must be certified to drive forklifts or pass certification exam during initial trial period.
  • Must be certified to operate cranes or pass certification exam or pass certification exam during initial trial period.
  • Basic computer skills, including basic Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Must be flexible regarding working hours and overtime. Must be able to work overtime on evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.
  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be constantly  required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequently required to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
