SUMMARY:

The Human Resources Generalist performs a broad range of HR-related duties and works closely with HR management, people leaders, and employees to foster a positive work environment, ensure compliance with regulations, and support the overall HR strategy to provide a high performing, engaged workforce. This position carries out responsibilities in the areas of talent acquisitions, orientation and onboarding, policy interpretation and enforcement, employee relations, performance management, training, affirmative action/EEO compliance, employee records maintenance and retention, benefits and HRIS administration, and employment law compliance. The Human Resources Generalist provides excellent customer service to internal and external client groups through professional and timely communications.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coaches and advises assigned client groups to enhance organizational growth and development.
  • Serves as primary resource for employees and management on interpretation and enforcement of Company policies and procedures.
  • Assists in hiring process for assigned positions, collaborates with managers to understand skills and competencies required.  Assists in Workforce Planning process for assigned clients by continuously monitoring staffing levels.
  • Facilitates employee onboarding and orientation to ensure a positive employee experience.
  • Handles employee relations issues, assists with investigations, and outlines recommended steps for resolution for review and approval by Human Resources Manager.
  • Assists in the facilitation of performance management processes, including training, goal setting, performance evaluations, and routine disciplinary matters.
  • Generates ideas for and champions employee engagement and employee relations activities to foster positive employee morale. Partner with plant leaders to facilitate employee engagement focus groups and develop meaningful action plans for improvement.
  • Assists with planning and executing Company activities including annual events, quarterly Town Hall meetings, recognition events, and HR-related activities.
  • Coordinates separation of employees including conducting exit interviews, notifying appropriate parties within the organization, and responding to external agencies.
  • Participates in developing department goals, practices, and systems. Makes recommendations for continuous improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
  • Manage or participate in specific projects as determined by the annual HR plan and participate in functional and cross functional initiatives. 
  • Track and analyze data/metrics to drive critical business decisions and make recommendations on HR programs.
  • Assist HRM in succession planning and talent development initiatives.
  • Maintains integrity and accuracy of employee files and records including HRIS records and other records management systems to comply with Affirmative Action and EEO regulations.
  • Works with Benefits Manager to coordinate annual benefits open enrollment and other benefits-related activities.
  • Oversees leave of absence management including HRIS tracking and in accordance with state and federal guidelines
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations.
  • Maintains and expands knowledge and understanding of existing and proposed federal and state laws and regulations affecting human resources management, identifying trends that could impact organizational objectives and/or operational resources.
  • Follows Company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance with the job.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years Human Resources Generalist level experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of general HR practices including federal and state employment law.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Strong analytical ability.
  • Must have effective written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Must have excellent computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to quickly learn HRIS systems
  • Strong Project Management skills

PREFERRED:

  • SHRM-CP or HRCI PHR certification.
  • Working knowledge of Affirmative Action Programs and compliance.
  • Experience working for a government contractor.

  • Must be able to travel, nationally, as necessary.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be constantly  required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • This position requires repetitive hand/wrist activities.

The approximate base compensation range is shown below. The actual offer may vary based on skills, experience and location.
