School Speech Therapist

As a Speech Therapist, you will join an energetic department to work with students across multiple age groups to facilitate the treatment of speech and language disorders & feeding.

The Speech Therapist position is full time at the Elizabeth Lee Black School. This position works the school calendar year and the 5-week Summer Extended School Year Program.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts screening and evaluations for students in the areas of speech, language and hearing.
  • Aides in the selection and scheduling of caseloads.
  • Develops IEP’s in coordination with parents/guardians, other agency staff members, and LEA. Develops appropriate instructional materials and techniques to meet the needs of all children served.
  • Conducts therapeutic intervention in accordance with IEP goals.
  • Serves as liaison to administration, parents and the interdisciplinary team in the areas of speech, hearing and language.
  • Is responsible for data collection and report writing regarding therapeutic intervention.
  • Maintains verbal/written contact with parents/guardians regarding therapeutic progress and communication strategies.
  • Attends meetings regarding school/BNI and department policies and procedures.
  • Develops weekly treatment plans corresponding to lEPs.
  • Implements departmental programs, policies and procedures related to the program.
  • Establishes working relationships with other multi-disciplinary team members in the Learning Center.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years or older
  • Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred
  • Must possess a current PA license and PA teaching Certificate
  • Experience with AAC devices, signing, or PEC system would be preferred, but SLP will be trained in all systems.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Eligibility for State Police Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse History Clearance
  • PA Department of Education FBI clearance required
