Behavioral Health Mentorship

The Barber Behavioral Health Mentorship will be a rotational employment position throughout the various programs within the BBH service line. The purpose of this position is to provide clinical on the job training by exposing the apprentice to the different services and programs within BBH. The duties will include job shadowing, providing billable and nonbillable services, administrative tasks, and other duties to support the needs of our programs all while gaining experience and knowledge of the clinical services we provide.

Responsibilities:

  • Have a hands-on, meaningful learning experience.
  • Establish and maintain effective and appropriate communication with supervisor and program managers.
  • Follow the expectations of the BBH service line.
  • Review, learn and abide by OMHSAS regulations and CCBH performance standards.
  • Support behavioral health clinicians in the field with day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Gain insight into behavioral health programs to develop an understanding of what long term career options the apprentice would want to pursue.
  • Utilize and challenge academic skills and apply knowledge gained in the classroom to real life scenarios.
  • Actively participate in program specific clinical supervision
  • Provide clear and accurate documentation when necessary.
  • Work with clients to achieve goals set forth in their treatment plan; utilize behavioral or therapeutic interventions.
  • Become familiar with client documentation such as progress notes, assessments and treatment plans
  • Become familiar with Erie County Mental Health Resources

 

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years completed in a Bachelor level degree in a human services field or a completed Bachelor degree in the human services field. The applicant can also be entering into a Clinical Master’s program.
  • Knowledge in the field of Psychology, social work or other related human services field.
  • Grade Point Average of 3.0 or above
  • Valid driver's license required
  • State Police Criminal History Check required
  • Child Abuse History Clearance required
  • FBI Fingerprint Clearance required
