Summary of Position

The head of Investor Relations reports directly to the CFO and is a member of the Finance Leadership Team They will oversee communication between the company’s corporate management and its equity research and investor community. They will help support releasing investor related information, handling investor/analyst inquiries and meetings, providing feedback to management and crisis management. The head of investor relations will be focused on the company’s financial community and developing and maintaining an investor outreach strategy and ensuring compliance with reporting laws.

Job Functions and Responsibilities

• Partner closely with the CEO and CFO to develop investor relations strategy and outreach

• Responsible for preparing, overseeing, and managing quarterly earnings and conference calls including writing speeches and earnings release documents

• Develop investor confidence and belief in the company’s vision and strategy for delivering shareholder value

• Manage equity research analysts and investor relationships

• Take an active role in articulating company strategy and purpose to all classes of investors

• Communicate company strategy and why it is best suited to enhance long-term value creation and competitive advantage

• Create and manage a strong reputation by demonstrating consistent and clear communication between internal and external parties

• Articulate the investor landscape and what will drive value over the longer term to executive management and the board 

• Analyze and present financial trends, competitor behavior, shareholder issues and anything else that could impact the business

• Responsible for preparing, overseeing, and managing quarterly earnings and conference calls including writing speeches and earnings release documents

• Work with legal counsel to ensure compliance on regulatory matters • Help prepare the company’s Annual Report and 10-k

Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field required

• Master of Finance, MBA, CFA and or CPA a plus

• Experience in equity research analytics with a tier one equity research institution preferred

• Extensive experience building financial models and isolating input assumptions to key performance metrics

• Experience in multi-unit retail or consumer service preferred

• 10 or more years’ experience managing investors and a strong track record of creating positive relations with the investor community and Equity Research Analysts

• Experience in other corporate finance and accounting disciplines a plus

• Deep knowledge and understanding of the equity capital markets, as well as a thorough understanding of key business metrics

• Intimately familiar with financial modeling techniques and valuation methods used by analysts and investors

• A strong understanding of macroeconomics, capital markets trends, competitor activities, industry dynamics and customer trends 

• A professional who is also entrepreneurial, and has a customer-minded focus

• Must be able to perform in a high-pressure environment and be able to meet tight deadlines

• Has superb written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to draft engaging and impactful messages for inspiring employees and investors

• Ability to build process and lead change to help the team be more efficient and impactful
