Assistant Controller

The Assistant Controller (CEFCO) reports to the Controller and is responsible for all aspects of the accounting department.  This includes managing a team of Accountants, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Clerks, and the Cash Management Accounting Associate.

General Responsibilities:

• Direct the day-today performance of the CEFCO accounting team; including monthly financial statement closing and close checklist, balance sheet reconciliation preparation and approvals and variance analysis on results.

• Oversees the general accounting functions.

• Perform all closings and issue thoroughly reviewed financial statements on time.

• Assists with the preparation of month-end financial package.
• Identifies and implements opportunities for improved effectiveness, efficiencies and controls.

Managing Staff:

• Selects, develops and evaluates employees to ensure efficient operation of their function, personal growth and development.
• Conduct 1x1 sessions on a regular basis.
• Perform mid-year and annual reviews.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required, CPA preferred.
• 7+ years’ progressive accounting experience.
• 3+ years’ as an accounting manager or assistant controller.
• 3 + years of general ledger experience, monthly closings, journal entry and balance sheet preparation and review
• General knowledge of GAAP principles.
• Possess strong analytical abilities.
• Advanced MS Office skills – specifically Excel.
• Solid experience with accounting software.
• Possess exceptional attention to detail and time management.
• Must have professional communications skills – both written and verbal.
