Albright College is seeking applications for Financial Aid Counselor.The Financial Aid Counselor will provide extensive financial aid counseling to students and families, as well as provide administrative support in the processing of financial aid. This role will be responsible for the verification and review of all aid files for packaging. In this position, the counselor will supervise student workers and serve as a backup support to the Office Manager and the Systems Operations Manager. Candidate must demonstrate a commitment to enhancing equity and inclusion within the team and across a culturally diverse campus while celebrating people of all statuses and identities.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Assists with Federal verification document processing and outreach regarding missing information through Powerfaids Student Forms systems.
  2. Responds to the daily email inquiries addressed to the financial aid office email account, triaging as needed to staff.
  3. Oversees the compilation of prospective freshmen award letters, email notifications and monitors the mailings.
  4. Oversees the production of the office newsletters and stall stories.
  5. Counsels prospective and current students and their families on the completion of financial aid documentation, review of financial aid award letters and explanation of financing options.
  6. Manages the Federal Pell Grant, Federal Loan Program and SEOG monthly reconciliation processes.
  7. Assists with the monitoring of the student workers schedules and tasks as assigned by the Directors.
  8. Manage file upkeep – creation of new paper files, pulling, monitoring and recording of graduated and withdrawn paper files and storing appropriately.
  9. Manages the tracking of the outside private scholarships in Powerfaids.
  10. Provides effective presentations to on and off campus audiences regarding the financial aid process at Albright College.
  11. Provides back-up support for the Administrative Assistant to the Student Services Center.
  12. Provides back-up support for the Systems Operations Manager.
  13. Other tasks as defined by Director of Financial Aid


Qualifications/Prerequisites:

  1. COMMUNICATION
    1. Must possess strong organizational and communication skills
    2. Must be able to communicate effectively, both in person and verbally
    3. Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
  2. SKILLS
    1. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
    2. Ability to interpret and respond to on and off-campus constituents with tact and diplomacy.
    3. Ability to execute instructions accurately and in a timely manner.
    4. Displays organizational and prioritization skills in daily/weekly/monthly duties.
    5. Ensures exceptional follow-up and follow-through on necessary tasks.
    6. Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
    7. Dedication to work in a team-oriented environment.
    8. Utilize Microsoft Office products to enhance office efficiency.

  3. EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE
    1. One to two years of related experience in a college or university financial aid office preferred
  4. EDUCATION
    1. Bachelor’s degree required.
