Tes has been supporting the education sector for over a century, growing, and changing alongside the evolution of education. Today, Tes is focused on providing digital solutions to support school leaders and teachers with wellbeing, continuous professional development, safeguarding, SEND provision, flexibility through timetabling, and pupil behaviour management.

About the role:

ProdOps is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of the product management team and product development process. This involves working with cross-functional teams to facilitate collaboration, streamline communication, and implement product best practices to advance the function. ProdOps plays a critical role in optimising the product teams and product development process including product market readiness to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality products to market that meet customer needs and expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

As ProdOps at Tes, you are a decision maker. You drive the vision for the product across the teams in support of the CPO, and the path to get there. You have a lot of responsibility (that’s why you love product management!) and these are the key areas that matter:

  • Customer-focused: Putting the customer first, ensuring products bring the most value as possible, and in this way enabling Tes to thrive. This only comes from knowing customers and the market in depth.
  • Cross-functional Communication: Facilitate communication between product development teams, engineering, marketing, customer support, and other stakeholders to ensure that everyone is aligned on goals, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Performance Metrics: Develop and maintain performance metrics for the product development process, including time-to-market, defect rates, customer satisfaction, and other key performance indicators (KPIs). Use these metrics to identify areas for improvement and develop action plans to address them.
  • Commercial & Risk Management: Identify potential commercial risks and opportunities that could impact the success of the product. Work with key stakeholders and the team to develop commercial and mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
  • Product Launch: Coordinate the launch of new products, including working across functions to create go-to-market plans, coordinating product demos, and ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and prepared for the launch.
  • Customer Feedback: Work closely with UX, Sales, Operations and customer support teams to gather feedback from customers and incorporate it into the product development process. Use customer feedback to identify areas for improvement and inform product roadmap decisions.
  • Process Streamlining: Develop and implement processes that streamline product development workflows, reduce cycle times, and increase efficiency. This includes creating and maintaining product roadmaps, sprint planning, backlog prioritization, and stakeholder communications.
  • Agile Methodologies: Promote the use of agile methodologies to increase the speed and efficiency of the product development process. Train team members on agile practices and coach them on how to apply them effectively.
