The Role

The Inventory Specialist plays a crucial role in managing inventory control activities and various OSI Supply Chain functions, which may include but is not limited to receiving, warehousing, shipping, and expediting, all while prioritizing a safe work environment. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date computerized inventory records of physical assets to ensure completeness and correctness. They support Production through the fulfilment of work orders, partner with Production Planners to execute project material transfers, and optimize warehouse standard operating procedures and physical infrastructure. 

Main Responsibilities

•    Be accountable for the integrity and accuracy of the stock management system.
•    Develop and maintain some procedures for all inventory control processes and functions.
•    Ensure mistakes, inaccuracies and discrepancies are addressed, and resolved, exploring root causes and corrective action plans.
•    Implement or support improvement processes and systems to reduce inventory errors, minimize costs and maximize working capital.
•    Support the maintenance of the company's stock profiles and stock locations in ERP system.
•    Support the perpetual inventory stock counting / inventory accuracy checks/cycle counts.
•    Support shortage reporting and fulfillment activities for production orders, per project.
•    Support and participate in the annual physical inventory and ongoing cycle counts.
•    Update the inventory database concerning shipments and receipts, warehouse transfers, and adjustments.
•    Fills demands for materials from Production personnel by accurately kitting inventory from stock, and updating ERP system, before goods physically move to Production.
•    Supports improvement projects to reduce inventory, minimize costs and maximize working capital.
•    Ensures inventory locations are organized, locked, and secured, at all times.
•    Assists the Shipping/Receiving functions during times of limited capacity and increased workload which, may include but is not limited to physical receiving of goods and customer furnished equipment (CFE), packaging goods for shipment, engaging transportation agents and brokers, producing associated paperwork, and entering system transactions.
•    Follows workplace operating and environmental, health, safety, and procedural guidelines.
•    Maintains shop-floor inventory holdings by actively verifying stock-outs and performing replenishment activities.
•    Assists with engineering requests for inspection of items, and ensures warehouse security & safety for visiting engineering staff (PPE is mandatory for all visitors)
•    Ensures that put-away items are labelled correctly and assists with recording stock locations in inventory system.

You Bring

•    Minimum of 3-4 years relevant experience in a manufacturing environment and college or university diploma in a relevant field or an appropriate mixture of experience and education.
•    Comprehensive knowledge of Supply Chain Management best practices, Controlled Goods, Canada or US Customs, NAFTA.
•    Forklift Certification
•    Strong working knowledge of ERP / MRP systems (in particular Epicor) and Excel
•    Practical experience: critical thinking through problems and exercising good judgement.
•    Ability to develop collaborative relationships and deliver concise and effective communication.
•    May be required to work additional hours and/or weekends, as needed, to meet deadlines. 
•    Eligible to obtain government security clearance.
•    Ability to lift 50 pounds
