POSITION SUMMARY — Must possess MIG, TIG, and Robotic welding skills including setup of welders and ability to weld vertical and horizontal welds with satisfactory results using aluminum and/or steel. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT — Must be willing and able to work in an environment exposed to elements that can include but are not limited to coolant, dust, mist, elevated noise, and uncontrolled temperatures.
 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Check and adjust program to ensure proper program is set to the machine
  • First Off Procedure (specification, place jig, check dimensions, check first product) 
  • MIG and TIG weld and set up (join/fabricate materials: steel and/or aluminum) 
  • Ensure work is done safely and meets quality standardAssemble items as instructed by work instructions
  • Keep work areas clean and organized and take proper care of all equipment and facilities 
  • Follow all safety rules and quality standards
  • Examine work for defects according to OEM specifications
  • Identify and handle nonconforming parts 
  • Ensure welder is in proper working condition (check temperature) 
  • Read welding work schedule 
  • Maintain proper width and penetration of welds
  • Ensure welder is in proper working condition 
  • Ability to stop the production line and/or prevent shipment of products due to nonconformance or potential nonconformance products to our customers
  • Support the environmental policy with proactive process implementation, improvement suggestions, reducing waste, and acting on environment performance results and findings
SKILLS & ABILITIES  
  • Knowledge of robotic welding equipment and understanding of welding are necessary 
  • Understanding of robotic welder including but not limited to setting temperatures, speeds, and feeds to ensure proper welds
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and/or weld symbols to determine the specific welding requirements  
  • Ability to provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task 
  • Effectively work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency 
  • Ability to use measuring equipment (calipers, tape measures, and angle gauges)
  • Ability to know a good weld versus a bad weld in terms of Dee Zee standards
  • Ability to read and understand written work instructions
  • General knowledge of how to use welding equipment
  • Know how to set up machines for personal preferences
  • Understanding of how to operate foot feed/pedal
  • Ability to use hand tools  
  • Possess vertical and horizontal welding skills 

 
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
 
Education: High School Graduate, GED, or HSDE; Associate's Degree preferred 
Experience: Three years of related experience preferred; MIG and TIG welding experience and/or training required 
Computer Skills:  Must demonstrate computer literacy
Certificates & Licenses: Welding Certificate preferred 
Other Requirements:  Must pass the welding test
